Regroup Casino Night - Friday 6th December 2013

The December meeting of the Plymouth Regroup has been designated a Casino/ Bond night.

There will be no formal meeting it will be purely a social evening, we have arranged 3 tables to keep you entertained. A roulette table, black jack & poker tables. To add to the atmosphere of the evening why not come dressed as your favourite Bond character, good, bad or both!

Surely we must have a few Jane Bonds out there as well?

Due to gaming laws the company supplying the tables and croupiers cannot allow us to play for money, so its just an evening of fun. However after the casino people have finished we hope to hold a horse racing event so those of you that really want a flutter can do so.

The aim of the evening to raise some funds for our chosen charity Guide Dogs for the Blind. You will be given playing chips to win or  lose on the gaming tables, what we would ask is for a donation towards the charity when you get your chips. There will also be raffles and other events during the evening to try and get you to part with your hard earned readies, all for a good cause. The over all winners on each table will receive very exclusive prizes!

As this is to raise money charity we would like you to invite friends and family to come along and support us and have a great evening of entertainment and enjoyment. It goes without saying if you are intending to invite guests we will need their names before hand to put on the gate so they can gain entrance.

Thanks goes to the RSM for the use of the mess, especially as they have the mess Christmas function the following evening so will need to set up on the Saturday now and not the day before.

7 (Sphinx) Commando Battery – Farewell to Condor (29th Apr - 1st May 2016)









As part of post SDSR 15 work in Navy Command the move of 7 (Sphinx) Commando Battery from RM Condor has been paused and the Battery will now remain in Arbroath for a further six months pending a wider estate and structures review within 3rd Commando Brigade Royal Marines


Update from 7 (Sphinx) Commando Battery Reunion

Gentlemen, I'm just back from deployment and have picked up the ball on this.

Contrary to rumours the reunion event is still going ahead with a revised format, on the dates planned.

Those details should have been promulgated to those who replied to the RSVP and have already paid.

I understand there has been a fair bit of uncertainty regarding the details of the event however this revised format has been made in consultation with former serving members.

The MEL is as follows.

DTG. 1930 - Friday 29 April 2016

Loc. The Royal British Legion Arbroath

Event. Buffet, booze and catchup.

Cost. £5

DTG. 1730 - Sat 30 April 2016

Loc. 7 BTY Hangar, RM Condor, Arbroath

Event. Battery History and equipment displays.

Event: 1800 - Bar Opens, The WOs' and Sgts' Mess.

Event: 1930 - Curry Supper, The WOs' and Sgts' Mess.

Cost: £35

Ski Holiday 24th Feb - 3rd  Mar 2019


SESTRIERE 2019

This Years Skiing Holiday to Sestriere went really well with some Great Snow conditions. To that end We are looking at doing it again next year. Hopefully we will get a big Group (With or without Partners) to go, a few single rooms are also available for solo Skiers if not wanting to share.

So the Ball is in your Court if you would like to give it a go as a few of us are all going again.

Dates will be Sun 24th Feb 2019 for 1 week, We will be going to Sestriere in Italy again (As it offers Great resort level skiing with guaranteed snow) with Crystal Ski (Thomson) (Link HERE) and are looking at booking the Du Col Hotel again this Year which is a Half Board Ski in Ski out hotel, offering excellent food with secure heated ski/boots lockers and its own public Bar with Entertainment Nightly.

However there are lots of Hotels around and not just for Crystal Ski as Inghams, Neilsons etc.. do similar packages to the same location or everything can be booked separately (Equipment hire and passes are priced reasonably).

We are going back to Sestriere again next year as it offers lots of skiing in the various resorts, and has some very good slopes for all types of skiiers. The Area pass gives access to all of the Milky way and also one Day in France (Mongenevre).

Sestriere is in the Middle of the Milky Way which offers 400km of slopes linked by lifts to other ski resorts including: Sauze d'Oulx, Sansicario, Claviere and Mongenevre in France, So for the Experienced, We can visit the other resorts with the Area passes.
